The Studio Launch! {Montreal Glamour Studio}

Hello Darlings!

What a trip life has been in the past little while. I really don’t know where I should start in telling you the logistics that came into play since we’ve rented out the beautiful space that is now our loft-turned-studio on St-Laurent & Prince Arthur.

Right in the heart of downtown where the hustle & bustle of the city goes down and where the cool hipsters come to play. Couldn’t be happier with the location but my-oh-my was it hard work to get this place into shape. We tore down a wall, built a new one.. Took down all 1000 sq ft worth of suspended tile ceiling (yuck)! We painted the whole space a nice bright white. Ahhh. Bliss. Needless to say, we put our blood sweat and tears into this lovely studio to make it an amazing place for you to come to and enjoy a beautiful experience with us!

Now, we are just days away from the ladies-only-super-VIP opening and I’ve got the jitters I am not going to lie. The cool-calm-collected me feels like a kid in a candy store. I want to run out and tell everyone in the city about this amazing new spot!

So who’s involved in the launch? Well, we are super lucky to have so many people stoked about our business. Not going to lie. Here are the highlights & the prizes that will be drawn during the evening: 


First off, every lady who comes into the studio will have a chance to win the prizes listed below but every single one of you will be leaving with a 250$ gift voucher from us. This includes hair and makeup for two ladies, a photoshoot to remember it all & 100$ of prints. Yes, you read that right. You're all getting one! Excited now? We sure are!!

We will be grooving to music pre-mixed by a DJ who used to mix for one of the best clubs in Europe, before he moved to Canada that is. Nothing better to set the mood. We’re so lucky to have him!

A core part of Photography By Mélanie is the beautifying of women. To do so, I've searched high and low for gracious, lovely, make-you-feel-good-about-yourself multi-talented ladies who do hair and makeup. We are happy to say that the amazing Mika Makup & Alexia have come on board with us and they will be attending the evening so you will have a chance to meet them & maybe get a tip or two about how they achieve such amazing looks on the ladies in the studio!

You will be able to taste the delicacies of Chefanista & nibble on the sweets of SweetMechanic throughout the evening. These lovely ladies are real gems. If you haven’t tasted their food yet, you’ve seriously been missing out on something in life. No joke. So do yourself a favour and check them out!

Rose-Anne of Chefanista and Andrea of Urban Body Montreal have also come together for a super-duper combo feel-good voucher. They have offered to give a voucher which will entitle you to delicious healthy food & gym pass now that’s what I’m talking about!

If that isn’t enough yummy-ness for one evening we will also be giving away a voucher for a dozen cupcakes from SweetMechanic. Hell-o goodness!

Also involved with the launch are the ladies Très Chic Styling, who will be giving away a gift certificate to one lucky lady. They have a lovely collection of brand name frocks in their store on Laurier street. I just checked out their new (to me) location today and honestly, I’d love to spend my days in there playing dress up. These gals are really an IT place for any fashionista!

The darling Lisa of Liss Events will be pulling all the final strings together to make this lovely evening happen for us at the studio! Seriously, she’s a great gal to have on board if ever you need to plan any kind of event! She does weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs.. You name it. She’ll organize it for you. Effortlessly. How amazing is that? She will also be giving away a 150$ voucher for her services at the event!

I am a gal who believes that living a glamorous life means you need to treat yourself to a little spa lovin’ from time to time. So we are offering a 50$ gift certificate from Spa Finder. They are an incredible service which brings together a whole bunch of spas on one searchable website. You can use their voucher at any of the listed locations. Check it out to see if your favourite on is listed and plan for some well deserved down time!

Of course, the lovely gals at Les Fleurs Kenzo are also giving a voucher for 150$. They are the one stop shop for everything glam in Laval. Macarons, flowers, weddings & shower gifts. They have so many beautiful things & services it’s hard to list them all.

Needless to say we are blessed to have so many lovely lady entrepreneurs involved with our launch and we can't thank them enough for all they've done to make this come together for us!

The Beauty Of Youth

When a woman comes in, young or old there’s always that anxiety of “I have nothing to wear” “I should have gotten a tan” “I feel fat today” (by the way ladies.. fat is not a FEELING. Just saying!). Let’s be honest here. Being a woman myself I know that our little brains are like howling monkeys going from branch to branch nonstop yelling nasty things at us and telling us just how much self loathing we need to take into the shower with us each morning (as Mrs. Gilbert would say it). It’s true. There’s always something “wrong” with us.

Or is there?

Here’s how I see. We feel as though there is always something wrong with us. It’s this heavy crap egocentric feeling that we carry with us everywhere we go as women, because the girls in the ads all around us are “prettier” “skinnier” or more of whatever it is you think is beautiful than us.

Reality check ladies. We are all different. And our differences unite us and they are what makes each of us stunning by our own right. Maybe that super skinny girl in the room only wants to have hips, curves and a womanly shape. Ever thought of that?

I had a client come in recently who couldn’t care less about what people thought of her. She is beautiful; she knows it and she glows. She is eighteen. Maybe people on the street don’t stop twice to look at her because she’s definitely not 6 foot tall, Swedish and blond and whatever else a “model” should be... but she reminded me of something.

When you were younger, careless and free you probably didn’t have the struggles you have today with your body image. Why? Simply because you had better things to do than beat yourself up about it. So please, do yourself a favour and cherish the lovely shell you are in. Take a step back from what you “think” is beautiful and look at yourself though the eyes of someone who loves you. Trust me. You will like what you see. 

Glamorous Review: The Glamour Bridal Show

Now if the name doesn't already say it all, I need to let you in on a little secret.

The Glamour Bridal Show / Brunch is really the place you want to be if you're a someone who's got a marvelous bertter half in his/her life and is just about to get hitched! This show is run by no other then the fabulous Mena of Evenements Wave. She's a little fire cracker this one, always on top of a million things at once. Honestly, I lift my hat up to her because I don't know how she does it but she always manages to pull off these beautiful and glamorous events.

I had the pride of photographing her latest event even though events aren't really my fortay (I much rather pamper ladies with hair and makup in the studio) I had a blast.
